About the Bikram Sambat calendar
Bikram Sambat (BS, विक्रम संवत्) is Nepal’s official calendar. It is about 56 years and 8 months ahead of the English (Gregorian) calendar, and the Nepali New Year falls in mid-April. Unlike English months, BS months have between 29 and 32 days, and the lengths change from year to year, which is why a converter is needed.
