How much does a WordPress website cost in Nepal? (2026 guide)
“How much will a website cost?” is the first question almost every client in Nepal asks, and the honest answer is that it depends. Quotes for what sounds like the same website can range from Rs 15,000 to several lakh. This guide breaks down typical price ranges, what actually drives the cost, and the yearly costs that are easy to forget.
Short answer: most WordPress websites in Nepal cost somewhere between Rs 15,000 and Rs 3,00,000 to build, plus roughly Rs 5,000 to Rs 30,000 a year for hosting, domain, and licences, before any ongoing maintenance.
Typical cost by type of website
| Type of website | What you usually get | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| Basic / starter | 5–8 pages on a ready-made theme, contact form, mobile-friendly | Rs 15,000 – 40,000 |
| Business website | Custom design, 10–20 pages, blog, forms, basic SEO setup | Rs 40,000 – 1,50,000 |
| Fully custom | Custom theme built from your design, custom features and integrations | Rs 1,00,000 – 3,00,000+ |
| WooCommerce store | Online shop with products, cart, checkout, and eSewa/Khalti/Fonepay payments | Rs 60,000 – 3,00,000+ |
These are indicative ranges for the Nepal market in 2026, not a fixed quote. Your actual price depends on your scope and who builds it.
What drives the price
- Design. A ready-made theme with your logo and colours is far cheaper than a custom design created for your brand.
- Number of templates, not pages. Ten pages that share one layout cost less than five pages that each need a unique layout.
- Custom features. Booking systems, member areas, calculators, and custom admin tools take development time that a plugin can’t replace.
- Integrations. Payment gateways like eSewa, Khalti, and Fonepay, SMS, ERP, or CRM connections each add work and testing.
- Languages. An English and Nepali site needs translation setup and twice the content.
- Content. If the developer also writes copy, sources photos, or loads hundreds of products, that’s extra.
- Who builds it. Freelancers usually cost less than agencies. Agencies add project management, design teams, and more capacity.
Yearly costs to budget for
| Item | Typical yearly cost |
|---|---|
| .com.np domain | Free for Nepali citizens and registered businesses (registration needs documents) |
| .com domain | Rs 1,500 – 2,500 |
| Shared hosting | Rs 3,000 – 15,000 |
| VPS or managed WordPress hosting | Rs 15,000 – 60,000+ |
| Premium theme and plugin licences | Rs 5,000 – 30,000 (often billed in US dollars) |
| SSL certificate | Usually free with your hosting |
On top of that, many businesses pay for maintenance, typically Rs 3,000 – 15,000 a month depending on what’s included: updates, backups, security monitoring, small content changes, and speed checks.
Freelancer, agency, or DIY?
- DIY is cheapest if you have the time, but it’s easy to end up with a slow, insecure site that needs rebuilding later.
- A freelancer is a good fit for most small and medium business sites. You get direct communication and lower overhead. Check their past work and ask who will maintain the site after launch.
- An agency makes sense for large projects that need a design team, strict deadlines, or several developers at once.
How to avoid overpaying (or paying twice)
- Register the domain in your own name, not the developer’s. It’s the hardest thing to recover later.
- Get full admin access to WordPress and your hosting account when the site launches.
- Avoid “nulled” (pirated) themes and plugins. They’re a common source of malware and can’t be safely updated.
- Ask what’s included after launch: bug fixes, training, backups, and for how long.
- Compare scope, not just price. A cheaper quote often leaves out design, content, SEO setup, or testing.
How to get an accurate quote
The more detail you share, the more accurate the estimate. Before contacting a developer, write down:
- What the site needs to do (sell products, take bookings, generate leads, share information)
- A rough list of pages and any special features
- Two or three websites you like, and why
- Whether you have a logo, design, and content ready
- Your deadline and budget range
